New Year for a New You 2016

Yesterday, we continued the series with prompts to help set intentions for all five pillars of life: financial, spiritual, mental, physical, and relational. We then explored those intentions a little deeper by asking the following list of questions, gathered from MONEY Master the Game: 7 Simple Steps to Financial Freedom by Tony Robbins:

    1. What do I really want? (vision)
    2. What is important about it? (values)
    3. How will I get it? (methods)
    4. What is preventing me from having it? (obstacles)
    5. How will I know I am successful? (measurements)

Here are my answers to yesterday’s prompts …

Intention-Setting 2017

:: Financial – 

I shared my income-setting prompts and process in Your Best Year 2017, but in short, I like to add up every financial upgrade I want to earn in the coming year.

I’ve named a very specific figure for 2017, and it easily covers business growth and employee salaries, dental care and self-improvement expenses for my family (e.g., cheer classes and piano lessons), car and credit pay-off, an increased personal savings fund, two new car upgrades, and business savings.

Once I have that figure in place, I divide it by twelve so I have a number I’ll need to earn each month in order to achieve my financial goal.

I did this last year with a dreamy goal of earning six figures ($146,000 to be exact). When I divided it by twelve, I needed to earn at least $12,000 per month to meet my goal. That figure was *huge* to me – way more than I’d ever earned in a single month before.

Last year at this time, I took a practice round. It was December 2015, and I told myself that if I made $12,000 in one month, I’d book the Disney cruise my family had been dreaming about for a decade, as a reward. And as if that money had always been available to me, I bagged that goal and booked the cruise. We celebrated Halloween on the High Seas a few months ago.

I went on to double the original financial goal I set for myself at the start of 2016. I feel confident that I can easily surpass my goal again in 2017. YES, PLEASE!

:: Spiritual – 

I would love to feel peacefully sound again, and it’s a goal I’ll be working toward once I find routine in the New Year. I’ve mentioned how much we changed and moved in 2016, and it was upending and chaotic. I know that my challenge will be to keep growing while grounding my body, mind, and spirit … and avoid curling up into an all-too-tempting new comfort zone.

:: Mental – 

I am going to master my craft this year. I have a very specific direction that I’m going to take this blog and the online training I provide, and I’m committed to sharpening my skills in order to dominate the space.

I’m going to invest over 200 hours into my own laser-targeted study to end 2017 having created the best online business training money can buy.

:: Relational – 

My family of six loves new adventure. We’re a little traveled out at the moment, so my goals for us will include a list of day trips, new activities to try, and new restaurants to taste.

I’m also looking to expand our circle and let more good people in. I’d like to make a few friends in my new area and add some type of social activity with others once a month.

:: Physical – 

I aim to lose ten pounds and improve my appearance with each passing day. To achieve this, I will eat cleaner, add more activities I love, keep up with salon appointments, start regular acupuncture treatments, and be gentle with myself along the way.

The exercise issued yesterday was to apply each goal above to the following list from Tony Robbins. To mind my length, I’m going to summarize all five intentions for this blog post and answer this list just once.

Since I feel my new financial goal is my biggest challenge ahead in 2017, I’m going to focus my answers there – but these are great questions to ask of each of your goals, in all five pillars.

:: What do I really want? (vision)

I want for money never to be an emotional stressor again. I’ve come a long way to understand, appreciate, and receive money as the abundant resource that it is. I want to have so much around me that I’m simply grateful for its constant presence, same as the air I breathe.

:: What is important about it? (values)

I want to break the negative beliefs around money that were instilled in me at a very young age. I want my children to always feel worthy and deserving. I want them to graciously say “YES!” to all good that comes their way.

In order to fully teach that, I need to first believe it for myself.

:: How will I get it? (methods)

In 2017, I’m going to release four major products (the best online training money can buy) and welcome 712 new members to The Luminaries Club.

I’m also going to continue to practice lessons in abundance from Denise Duffield-Thomas.

:: What is preventing me from having it? (obstacles)

  • No offer on the table (currently)
  • Deserving issues – always more to uncover
  • Too few hours per day to finish projects (= not enough support)
  • Branding/services not specific enough

:: How will I know I am successful? (measurements)

  • 712 additional members to The Luminaries Club
  • Your Best Year 2017: 200,000 copies sold!
  • Next project (TBA): 100,000 copies sold
  • Your Best Year 2018: 50,000 pre-orders

Today’s Prompts

It’s almost time to create a list of specific things you’d like to achieve in 2017. I don’t call these “resolutions” because the word has so many flaky connotations. Instead, I want you to set goals like destinations on a map, and I want you to be bound and determined to reach those destinations in 2017 – no excuses.

Here are a few more prompts to steady your focus and ready your mind …

  • What would you do in 2017 if you knew you could not fail?
  • What are some things you could be doing that you’ve been too afraid to try? How can you stretch your comfort zone?
  • What have you been struggling with for entirely too long?
  • What could you outsource, delegate, automate, and/or stop doing in 2017?
  • In what ways and which areas will you “upgrade” your life?
